SURF SPORTS

Surf Sports are an exciting part of the lifesaving movement, and helps develop skills and fitness which can be used in performing rescues. Regularly throughout the season there are competitions (called carnivals) at which Broadbeach lifesavers compete with keen enthusiasm.

Carnivals see people of all ages competing – from Junior Activities to Masters and ages in between.
The surf sports season culminates in the titles – held at Branch, State and National levels.

There is a broad range of competitive activities available in surf sports, for example:

  • Ski Paddling
  • Beach Events (sprints, flags)
  • Swim events
  • Surf Boats
  • Board Paddling
  • Ironperson Events
  • Inflatable Rescue Boat competition
  • Surf Rescue Competition (First Aid, Champion Lifesaver, Patrol Completion)
  • R&R Competition

Have a look at our facebook photo gallery to see some of our Broadbeach competitors in action.
