Job Vacancies - Life Guards needed

Surf Life Saving Queensland is seeking expressions of interest from highly motivated individuals with a strong background in lifesaving services to fulfil casual Lifeguard positions over the summer period. Positions available in 

North Queensland (Port Douglas – Mission Beach) 

Townsville (Forrest Beach – Alva beach) 

Mackay (Eimeo – Sarina) 

Wide-Bay (Yeppoon – Hervey bay) 

Sunshine Coast ( Noosa – Caloundra) 

South East Queensland (South Bank & all areas excluding Sunshine Coast)

Reporting to the regions Lifeguard Supervisor, Lifeguards are responsible for maintaining supervision and safety to members of the public by providing advice on safety, performing rescues, first aid and resuscitation as required.
 
To be successful in this role, ideally you will have:  A high level of lifesaving knowledge and experience  Demonstrate a high level of fitness  Excellent customer service and public relations skills
 
Role Requirements  800m pool swim in 14 minutes or 400m pool swim in under 8 minutes (Lagoon Only) (Minimum pool length is 25m)  Ocean Mission ( for ocean lifeguards only)  Bronze Medallion (Certificate II Public Safety – Aquatic Rescue) or industry equivalent  First Aid Certificate  Advanced Resuscitation Techniques Certificate  A current Working with Children Blue Card or ability to obtain one quickly  A current Queensland Driver’s License  Be at least 18 years of age for Ocean Lifeguards  Be at least 17 years of age for Lagoon Lifeguards  Recreational Marine License and Personal Watercraft License – Highly regarded  Successful applicants will be invited to attend a mandatory fitness test and training will be provided to obtain all outstanding Surf Life Saving qualifications.
 
Suitable applicants will then be invited to complete a fitness test and if successful proceed to do relevant training and inductions. Training in the required qualifications will be offered to suitable applicants.

State Titles - IRB holds Broadbeach name high

The IRB team has closed out the QLD season with a significant performance.  The team placed well across many of the events and amassed a points tally that placed them 2nd overall on points.

The result reflects the hard work of the team through the winter season to travel the distances to as far north as Hervey Bay and south to the boarder.  

With one remaining carnival, the "Aussie's" will provide them with a national platform to demonstrate the dedication that is at the core of the club.   Congratulations to the team and particularly those that placed at the Qld. Titles.  Good luck at Aussie's.

17th June 10 am. - AGM's - BBSLSC then followed by Supporters Club.

25 August - Police and Community Inaugural Charity Ball at the Seagulls Club Auditorium in Tweed Heads.  Proceeds will be used to support the Tweed Heads Hospital children’s ward and the Gold Coast University Hospital’s children’s ward.

Goods in kind provided by local businesses will be auctioned or raffled off.

The event is jointly organised by Queensland Police Service, New South Wales Police Force and Australian Federal Police.

Dress: Formal attire.

Guess who's coming to Broadbeach in 2019.....?

The best of Australia's Surf Life Saving talent will be looking to Broadbeach and considering their options for the 2019 Aussie's, which was officially named at Scarborough Beach this week, host of the 2018 Aussie's.   

The event is an enormous honour and provides an opportunity for the club to show its true colours as it sets about the planning for the competition and working at the event.  Dates have been confirmed as 31st March to 07th April, 2019.  

The Management Committee extend their congratulations to the President for his hard work in securing the Aussie's.
